An exceptional location
In the south of Paris, the 14th arrondissement is renowned for its warm and artistic atmosphere. The lively Gaîté-Montparnasse district is internationally known for its many shops, delicious crêperies, plays and historic bistros frequented by writers like Hemingway and artists like Picasso.
Just a few minutes' walk away, you can enjoy all the cultural and recreational activities this district has to offer.
With excellent transport links, you can reach all of Paris' other iconic places.
Art in the district
The Left Bank has always attracted writers, artists and painters. Lined with mythical places, the teeming district of the Roaring Twenties remains an epicentre of creation and the emblematic cafés such as the Dôme, the Rotonde, the Select or even La Coupole are sure to delight you.
In fact, as a nod to history, number 3 rue de Vercingétorix was once home to the Douanier Rousseau and the area was home to the artist Josephine Baker on her second trip to Paris before settling there permanently. The artists Alexandre & Florentine Lamarche-Ovize pay tribute to her with their work in the hotel's entrance.
Only a few minutes walk from the Drawing House, you can visit many museums and art institutions. If you like contemporary art we recommend you visit the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain, a cultural centre that organises exhibitions that allow you to discover today's fashionable artists. If you prefer sculpture, you can also see the Musée Bourdelle, the house and studio of a 19th century sculptor with a garden where his works are displayed, or the Institut Giacometti, a reference point for the artist's work that organises numerous exhibitions.
Other cultural places to visit within a 15-minute walk are the Catacombs of Paris, the Musée de la Poste and the Musée de la Libération de Paris.
If you are looking for an evening activity, we invite you to take a look at the rich offer of shows that the numerous theatres of the district propose. Among them: the Théâtre Montparnasse & Petit Montparnasse, the Théâtre de Poche, the Théâtre de la Gaîté-Montparnasse, the Théâtre le Guichet and the Théâtre Rive Gauche.
If you prefer to relax and watch a film in the evening, you can enjoy the programme of the Bretagne Cinema or the Gaumont Parnasse, located 10 minutes away on foot.
Shopping
Rue de Rennes is an important shopping street in the Left Bank of Paris. There are fashion boutiques, decoration shops, kitchen accessories, antique shops, jewellery shops, restaurants and cafés to take a break after a day of shopping.
Some of the shops you can find on this street are: Céline, Gap, Kenzo, Devernois, Loft by Design, Kenzo, The Kooples, Arcus, as well as accessory and jewellery shops: Cartier, Monblanc, Lancel, Rolex, etc.
Where to eat and drink?
Take a stroll down Rue Edgar Quinet and Rue Vavin to find restaurants, cafés and bars to suit all tastes. On rue Edgar Quinet you can find many Breton creperies, Thai restaurants and trendy cafés where Parisians like to go out after work.
On Rue Vavin, discover historic bistros such as La Rotonde, Le Dôme and La Coupole, and Dôme and La Coupole, and enjoy the Parisian nightlife.
We also recommend that you take a step up to the 59th floor of the Montparnasse Tower, the highest skyscraper in Paris, which offers a 360-degree view of the whole city.
